PEDStest Online® can integrate with EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems via our proprietary API (Application Programming Interface. This option requires the coordination of technical resources on both ends to ensure that the API usage meets HIPAA / HITECH standards and regulations for secure electronic transmission and exchange of Patient Health Information (PHI) as well as our Software Licensing Agreement.

The capability to integrate depends on multiple factors including:

  • Openness of the EHR platform for integration: (i.e. Does the EHR have open integration options with external providers?)
  • Cost prohibitive barriers to integration: (i.e. Does the EHR charge significant up-front costs to integrate with their product?)
  • Availability of resources: (i.e Does both organizations have resources available to assess, scope, and complete the integration?)
  • API usage requirement: (i.e. Is expected usage of the PEDStest Online API enough to justify the effort to integrate?)
  • Desired behaviors in the platform: (i.e. Are the expectations for how the system is expected to work realistic and available?)

  • PEDS-R®
  • PEDS:DM®
  • PEDS:DM-AL®

How to Get Started with PEDStest Online® API Integration

To begin using the API with your EHR, we recommend you contact the technical contact for your EHR provider first to verify the business requirements for the integration. PEDStest Online® API documentation can be found here: https://pedstestonline.com/docs. This may serve as a good starting reference for technical personnel to review to assess the options. Here are some possible questions to consider:

  • Is the EHR open to integrate with external providers like PEDStest Online®?
  • Does the EHR provide technical resources to initiate and complete the integration process?
  • Are there any additional costs (to the Medical Practice or to PEDStest Online®) to integrate with external providers?
  • How soon can the integration process begin?
  • How long could it take to complete the integration process? Weeks? Months?
