Licensing Agreement for Use of PEDS ONLINE: Developmental-Behavioral Screening Service

  1. Electronic administration of PEDS, PEDS:DM, and the M-CHAT developmental screening tests
  2. Results of screens that can be saved into electronic charts including:
    1. A record of parents' responses and scored results
    2. A summary report of results to share with parents
    3. A referral letter when needed (to share with early interventionists and other providers)
  3. A website that houses training slide shows, research updates, short training videos, etc. See www.pedstest.com
  4. A Patient Portal allowing parents to complete the measures on their own from home, on a clinic computer or a kiosk. (Results will not be displayed. Instead, an email alert is sent to the clinic when a screen has been completed).
  5. Downloadable files of the PEDS Response Form in all available languages in case a paper-pencil approach is still needed in waiting or exam rooms. For the PEDS:DM and M-CHAT we recommend purchasing the laminated PEDS:DM Family Book which houses the questions and response options (and saves photocopying costs).
  6. Informational guidance (see FAQs at www.pedstest.com) for various administration methods, i.e., completing measures by live interview and/or by typing in parents' written responses from forms completed via paper-pencil, and receives results in real time.
  7. A printable .pdf file explaining how to use the site, record usernames and passwords, and information about what PEDS ONLINE results mean.
  8. An administration panel that:
    • Enables providers to access screening results, correct any administration errors (e.g., incorrect birthday, delete duplicate records), and ability to add screens to the patient record within 30 days (e.g., if the M-CHAT is sent home with the family after an appointment).
    • Offers a view of usage statistics and screening results for data analysis, program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives on early detection.
    • Enables an export of data for use with EXCEL, SPSS or other database software.
  9. Storage, review, and validation of data/results in a secure manner, accessible only to licensed users and those PEDSTest employees involved in site management.
  10. Option for users to download their own database (e.g., for quality improvement initiatives).
  11. Research consultation given funding support on study design, scoring, and interpretation of results from PEDS/PEDS: DM researchers.
  12. Collaboration with IT consultants for licensee's electronic records software on how to establish integration with our site.

By agreeing to this license, you and other providers in your clinic/network are agreeing:

  1. To use PEDS ONLINE web-based scoring service when administering PEDS, the PEDS:DM, and the M-CHAT
  2. To download the PEDS Online Brief Guide and refer to it for storing username, passwords, login ids, and most importantly for guidance on understanding results.
  3. To translate all parents' comments rendered in a language other than English (or Spanish when available online), into English (Spanish when available) before entering them into the site.
  4. To ensure that the PEDS/PEDS:DM copyright notice is visible on all documents where its forms and results are rendered (e.g., when photocopying .pdfs).
  5. To keep any printable PEDS/PEDS: DM and M-CHAT response forms files confidential and share them only with providers covered by your license agreement and approved according to HIPAA/FERPA requirements.
  6. To ensure that PEDS/PEDS:DM and M-CHAT forms are not posted on a public, non-password protected portion of your website(s) or distributed to any individual who is not a patient/parent, clinician or staff who are not part of your license agreement.
  7. To adhere to instructions for site use and test administration so as to achieve optimal results from PEDS ONLINE.
  8. To understand that anonymized data may be collected and used for research purposes. Throughout the process, it may also be necessary to share anonymized data with other researchers outside of PEDStest Online.
  9. To recognize that developmental-behavioral screening tests achieve a standard of 70% to 80% accuracy and that some children will be under-detected and some over-referred. Over-referrals are almost always children who perform in the below average range and have psychosocial risk factors. Thus, we strongly discourage you from over-riding referral recommendations rendered by PEDS ONLINE with clinical opinion or informal milestones checklists. If you do, your detection rates will drop to ~ 30%.
  10. License agreements will automatically be renewed for one year upon expiration, unless a written or verbal termination request is submitted within two weeks of expiration.
